Sinreuksa three floor stone tower

Three Tiered Stone Tower of Silleuk Temple

This tower was made of 2 floor bedrocks and on top of the bedrocks 3 floors were built.

At the bedrocks, columns were built in the corner and the center and on the 3 floors, additional columns were built in the corner. Roof was made with rocks and on each floor four rocks were piled and slightly up. At the top, Noban, Bokbal, Angwha, Boryun, Bogae and so on were put. Chalju which can support the center of gravity penetrates the floor. This tower was made in former part of Goryeo and this style of tower succeeds the style of towers of United Silla and ornament of head is really good and really well preserved. The skill looks great.

In1981, this tower was dismantled and restored. 108 small towers and cremated remains were found and these are preserved and displayed in the National Cheongju Museum. Sinreuksa was established in Silla Jinpyeongwang(King) on the 4th year(582) and it was restored in Munmu king by Wonhyodaesa(Monk). It was restored in Chosun dynasty by Muhakdaesa(Monk) and Samyeongsunsa(Monk) and in this place, the 3 floor stone tower and Geukrakjeon(Local cultural asset 132nd), Gwebuldae, Sansingak, Guksadang and Yosache, etc, are placed.
