Jangnak Seven Tiered Stone Tower

Mojeon stone tower is made by cutting the stone like a brick shape and this tower imitated the Jeon tower which was made of dried mud brick. This tower is called 'Imitated tower'.

This tower is 7 floors and by using gray slates this tower was built. Artisan used the living rock and stereobate to make the 7 floors by bricks. Topsin is place which preserves cremated remains or Buddhist scriptures and at each corner, columns with granite are stands. This is very unique. Also, at the north side and the south side, Gamsil(Room which keeps cremated remains) was established and the doors were built but the south door was collapsed. The south side and the east side were really collapsed on the first floor and rocks which were made as roof were collapsed on the second floor too.

Rocks which were made as roof were made of bricks and eaves are short and horizontal. Artisan made holes in each corner of the roof and hung the Punggyeong.

Ornament on the head was collapsed but Noban remains. Round hole is in the center of Noban where the circumference of the hole was carved with pattern of lotus. In 1967, this tower was dismantled and then repaired. On the rock which was made as roof, someone found the bronze with pattern of flower and you can guess that this bronze may be ornament of the head.

In the whole tower, Artisans limewashed and traces are remained. Depending on the making style or piling rocks, we can guess this was built in the latter period of united Silla.

Jangraksa was established in the latter period of the three states so you can find the three Jungchangbulsa.
